Connect and get productive
- Console: use the built-in web console from your dashboard — handy for your first boot, or if SSH is ever blocked.
- SSH over IPv6:
ssh user@your-ipv6-address. IPv6 is enabled by default. - Firewall: start with
ufw(simple) ornftables(more advanced). Default-deny inbound, then allow only what you actually use. - Containers: Docker works out of the box — for example:
apt update && apt install -y docker.io
docker run -d -p 80:80 nginxA quick word on IPv6
Each instance includes a dedicated public IPv6 address on Alberta infrastructure, with no NAT in the way. That makes it a lovely place to learn real routing, test dual-stack services, and run services that are directly reachable. Add an AAAA record and you’re live, without the usual port-forward gymnastics.
